About attawondatonk Films
Attawondatonk Films was established in 1993 and has been the home of all my work ever since.
I began attawondatonk films when I was in University taking Native Studies. Attawondatonk is a huron word for the Neutrals meaning “people who speak a slightly different language”.
What I learned from Canada’s history with our indginous people fueled my mission as a filmmaker: to represent the under represented. This is a strong theme of mine, in my work.
I left University to manage Raul the superdancer of the world. He was a street performer who was giving “free shows” for the toronto public. I’ll post some of his footage once I get around to it.
I was 21 at the time and knew instantly that this man, and what he represented would be my life’s work. I quit university and started managing him full time. I knew there was something to learn from him,
regarding the diminishing role of The Fool in our society. A role that used to be very important in ancient societies where Myth was revealed and a part of everyday life. I have written a play about him, that he starred in at the Tarragon.
All my work to date has been inspired by what I learned from Raul. I am currently writing a feature to follow up my present feature film with rhombus Media.
Currently I am working with Niv Fichman of Rhombus Media (Red Violin, Childstar, Clean) on developing my first feature, Outcalls based on my experience as a driver in Toronto’s escort Industry.
